Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
At SoundPlay, we provide services to a wide range of children and adults who are neurodivergent. We strive to provide services that are client and family centered, empowering to the individual, and respectful of who each person is and wants to be. Goal areas our team might help with include: social communication, speech or language development, non-verbal communication skills, auditory processing, development and use of Augmentative Communication systems, reading skills, or reading comprehension, developing self-confidence and self-awareness, and many other things related to communication. Services are tailored to the needs and interests of each individual and family. Services may be provided as assessments, regular therapy sessions, or as consultation to a family, school, or therapy team. We have several staff who are Registered Autism Service Providers (RASP) and others who are not on the RASP, but are experienced at working with older children and adults.
Offering the PEERS program in the Fall of 2026, for neurodiverse teens Grade 8-12 and a caregiver.
PEERS: Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relationships is a researched program developed at UCLA to teach teens and parents how to use proven strategies for building and maintaining friendships.
Join our experienced facilitators, Licensed SLP's Shannon Muir and Jacquie Engel for a 13-week program during which the parent group and the teen group are run concurrently. Teens have opportunities to practice skills through role play and games, while parents develop coaching techniques to use with their teens.
We are offering the program in 2026 on Tuesday evenings September 15 – December 8 7:00 – 8:30 pm in North Vancouver.
